The Rolling Stone's 'Make Believe Maverick' is a solid, in-depth investigative journalism piece about McCain and his long, long list of lies. It's a story about redemption--except the redemption never takes place. McCain never has what could be deemed a "come to Jesus" moment. The points in his life that should have served as redeeming moments were cynically used as political props as his ambition and hunger grew.
