I've been thinking about Patrick Swayze a lot today, and I know it might sound sarcastic, but I really prefer a world with him in it. And I'm going to say my reasons, and they'll probably sound sarcastic, too, but I mean them.

1) He taught us that pain don't hurt.

2) He taught us that nobody puts Baby in the corner.

3) He taught us to be nice--but only until it's time to not be nice.

4) He taught us love is like surfing--more than that, love is surfing.

5) He taught us how to laugh again (he's a funny guy).

6) He taught us that you only need to see Red Dawn once.

7) He taught us that if you don't trust him, you will hurt him.

8) He taught us ditto is a perfectly appropriate way to express love.

9) He taught us slightly soiled dancing to full-on dirty dancing.

10) He taught us how to have a very Swayze Christmas.

He actually really always impressed me. Here's a strong, attractive masculine guy who can actually hold an intelligent conversation and whose masculinity isn't threatened by a) being a talented dancer or b) dressing up in drag.

And I've seen Red Dawn three times. Although the last time I couldn't do it with a straight face...

Also, he taught us that as a drag queen, he looked like Miss Kitty from Gunsmoke. And he can ROCK heels, lol.

Great list, but as a guy who grew up in the '80s, there is really no limit to the amount of times I can watch Red Dawn and enjoy it :)
