I didn't have a camera when I met Mr. Tweedy. This made me sad, especially when he went into "take a picture pose" with his arm around my shoulders. As I bemoaned my sad cameraless state, a nice guy standing nearby said "Oh, I'll take the picture!" Which he did a great job, as you can see from my previous post. I gave him my email addy, but didn't feel full of hope, you know? He could lose the paper, or be a jerk, or just forget. And I didn't properly introduce myself (do you think I was thinking clearly?! I just met Jeff Tweedy!).

Well, obviously he emailed me tonight. And his name is Ryan. Ryan, clearly, is a very kind and thoughtful soul. Ryan is also the lead singer of a band called Atherton. Since Ryan was so kind to me, I went to CD Baby and I checked out their albums. I really liked the way Skyline Motel sounded, so I bought it. I've listened to it twice now, and it's really good.

Like, good enough I might buy the other album.

Good enough I'll pay to go see them on Monday night here in town.

If you like alt-country (think early Wilco, Ryan Adams, etc), and you haven't checked these guys out, I highly recommend them.
I'll probably wuss out before it happens, but right now, I'm happy to fantasize about going through a bunch of pain to permanently maim my body in a way that most people won't see because I would choose a location not readily visible.

And I'm thinking about this:

Except, without the word "Wilco." Or maybe with it. I'm not sure. But I like it. Incidentally, it's the design of the poster sold at the concert I went to last summer at Berkeley with [livejournal.com profile] eurydice72, so it's not just a random picture of fish I found somewhere.
