Ok, I bought the instanst sugar cookie mix. So that's good. And then I bought two different kinds of chocolate chips and also raisins and oatmeal. Despite my announcement that I would never make cookies again, I have successfully made chocolate chit and oatmeal cookies in the past, and I plan to again if it kills me.

So, does anybody have a good oatmeal cookie recipe? My cheapo cannister of oatmeal doesn't have a recipe on it.

[livejournal.com profile] angstchic passed this nummy recipe of hers onto me, so I'll pass it onto you:

3/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cup oats, uncooked
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/2 baking soda

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water, and vanilla until creamy. Add combined remaining ingredients; mix well. (Tip: For variety you can add chopped nuts, chocolate chips, raisins, or coconut.) Drop by rounded teaspoons onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.

I just eyeball the amt. of raisins, I kinda just toss 'em in.

I've always had good luck with the recipe under the lid of Quaker Quick Oats. It's never failed me. I can send it to you if you like.
