Jaime informed me today that he's been laid off. Today was, effectively, his last day. He didn't have any warning. I guess nobody there did--the whole office is being shut down. Everybody there lost their job.
I panicked. Now I'm mostly just numb. If I didn't have my blurbing job, I'd be hysterical. But that work is enough to keep our heads above water for now. Hopefully he'll find a new job soon. Even if we have to go with a short-term hospitality position--there are a LOT of hotels around here, and the winter season is tourist season in Northern Utah.
In slightly happier news, we'll finish Chaos & Communion tomorrow and get started on A Hidden Beauty. Starting an awesome new story is usually enough to cheer me up. You know what would really cheer me up? If Ellora's Cave accepts No Fear in Love, Querida, or If All the Sand were Pearl. I'd be damned near ecstatic if I'm a Brava Novella Contest finalist.
