Well, I guess death doesn't have to be involved. Harlequin has been making calls this morning. Four of the people I know of on one of the eharlequin boards have received notification of placing or honorable mentions. The official list was to be announced 1 EST, 10 PST. I suppose they could be saving me for last, and they're running a bit behind, but probably not.

Oh well. I must admit, I did fantasize about the editor calling me and gushing about the genius of my work, perhaps offering a 3-book contract. Hey, I'm a writer, I have an active imagination.

Now the game plan is pulling double duty on NaNo--1600 words in the morning on the rest of God, 1600 words in the evening on Engaging Carol. When God is finished, I'll submit it elsewhere. Perhaps Brava. Perhaps to Blaze again. Once I get the news on Carol, well, I guess I'll brush myself off and start looking for a new home for that as well...though it's designed to be an Epic, so I might not be able to find one.

I wish one of the many publishers I have submitted to would contact me today with good news, giving me the boost I desperately need.

Sometimes movies just make me angry

I recorded a shitload of movies this weekend, all horror-related. Two of them, Paperhouse and Madman were aired on IFC. IFC has never done me wrong before, so I was really looking forward to them.

Now I'm looking forward to punching the "directors" in the face (I put the word in quotes because I'm not sure if they should get the credit or the blame). Those were some really awful movies with basically no redeeming qualities. At all.

Bah!
