Ok, so I found Debt Free and their website, and it looks pretty good. They claim to be a non-profit, 25 years in the business. You enroll, they contact the credit providers, cancel the card, lower interest rates, etc etc, and then you pay them a monthly payment, and they use a formula to send that money to each of the cards. There are no loans, and there's a small monthly fee ($14 according to my plan. I haven't enrolled, I just started the process to see what the monthly plan was).

I think it looks pretty good, especially since they promised to have us out of debt in 4 years and 7 months. Of course, we wouldn't be able to use those CCs anymore, but that's hardly a bad thing!

Jaime is concerned if we do this, I'll get fucked over. He also thinks that having 2 cancelled cards would somehow be black marks on my credit score--I think that's absurd, especially since we'll still have two open cards.

So, all you adults out there who know better than me--does it look like a good idea? Will it hurt my credit score? Are there any red flags I should be wary of? The fact is, they say we have to pay $195/month for both cards. Right now, I pay $300 total, and about $15 (total) goes towards the actual balance. But what if it's too good to be true.

I really need help and advice here.
of 10K words this week, I've got to start writing right now. I've been trying for 3 hours now, but I'm just so uninspired. I doubt I'll hit 500 words, much less 2000.

Grrr.
