He loves her because he can respect her. He loves her because she can (and does) take care of herself. He loves her because she stands up to him, she's not a screamer, she's not afraid of him. He loves her because she's smart, bright, and she doesn't need anybody. He loves her because the sex is brilliant, and because she tries, and because she doesn't question him or what he does. He loves her because he was obsessed with her. There's a certain amount of empathy between them because at the end of the day, they want the same thing.
