I finished the western, officially titled Dead Man's Corner. That's the good news. The bad news is that it's 72,000 words, not the 75,000 I was aiming for. I guess I better make up the difference during revisions.

Incidently, here's the synop I wrote for my query.

Eliza Quinn first meets Ford when he tracks his rival, Corbett, to her homestead. Their bloody feud leaves Eliza's only friend dead, her home destroyed, and Eliza with no choice but to build a new life with Ford.

But the feud does not end with Corbett’s death—it is just the first step on a path that leads to kidnapping, betrayal, and murder. Violence follows them to Dead Man’s Corner where the mayor rages a bloody war for power and money, secretly kidnapping and murdering innocent people in the night. Caught in the middle of both fights, everybody except Ford underestimates Eliza’s ability to adapt, survive, and fight for herself and the man she loves.

Now, I've got to write the chapter-by-chapter synop, get it beta'ed, and go through it with a fine-tooth comb. But before that, I've got to do the third draft of Be THou My God.

Before I do any of that, I've got to rest my poor brain. I've done approximately 26,000 words this week, most of that in the past two days.

I drank a lot of cheap wine tonight. Now I feel really sick. Like I'm going to puke. Exactly how I love to feel when I finish a novel...

ETA: I didn't go see Walk the Line today, opting instead to work on my WIP. I guess I'm glad I did, because I can play this weekend without feeling guilty.
