I posted this over in [ profile] jamiecraigbooks

Earlier this month, while Vivien and I were in Vegas, I wanted something light and fun to read. So I did a search through my Stanza app (if you have an iPhone and like to read, get the Stanza app!) and found P.G. Wodehouse's Love Among the Chickens. I had never read any of his books before, though I have clearly heard of him, and I know a lot of people who are big fans of his. I decided that, given the sort of books he writes, and given the title, this was probably just the sort of light reading I had been looking for. So I downloaded it and resolved to read a chapter a night.

I didn't have any expectations but I was really impressed.
Okay, I haven't updated on my progress in a long time. You may think it's because I've completely lost my will to diet and I've fallen off the wagon.'d be wrong! I slipped a little last weekend. Between Thursday night and Sunday afternoon, I had a serving of ice cream, a small slice of pizza, and a donut (a delicious, delicious donut). But this week, I haven't strayed off track once. Overall, it's starting to feel a lot more like my regular lifestyle than a strict diet.

[ profile] slacker_97 is looking great, though he's far more casual with the diet. I guess he just needed to cut down his sugar/calories a little bit. He claims he's not losing weight, but I think anybody with eyes can see he's looking much better. [ profile] gigglestheblood is also looking pretty good, now that she's been doing this for about a month. I can definitely tell a difference, and except for a few moments of "Oh my god I'm so tired of this shit" she's been going strong. I also convinced me other sister to try to cut out her carbs, and she's doing a really good job too and has already lost several pounds.

I'll admit, I weighed myself last week. It was about as bad as I thought it would be. The next time I cross paths with a scale, I'll probably check again and see if there is any process whatsoever. Unfortunately, I have so much weigh to lose that unlike my husband and sisters, you can't just a difference. Which is discouraging. But what can you do?

Not much else going on here. Oh, I don't have a new class for the spring quarter at UCC. If enrollment numbers go up by the end of this week, then I'll have at least one class, which will result in a smaller check, but it's better than no classes at all. If the enrollment numbers don't go up, then I can't do anything but cross my fingers about getting a summer class. At my other teaching job, I have one course for the summer and two for the fall--pending enrollment numbers of course! I also owe the government nearly $700. I have that money in the bank, but overall, April is going to be a suck month of suck.
