I decided to cut out processed sugar and preservatives from my diet. Yes, I'm basically going back to Atkins, though I have to admit, I'm not being fastidious about counting the carbs and the calories. I figure that if I can stop eating chips, cookies, sugary cereal, brownies, ice cream, and other food that I love, I'll be doing good, regardless of what you technically call it. Yesterday, I did good. I had 2 boiled eggs, 2 cans of tuna, a salad, a steak, and I whipped up a bit of whip cream with some sugar-free vanilla syrup for dessert. Which was filling and yummy (I love whipped cream).

I don't own a scale, and I don't really have the testicular fortitude to look at one right now. Which means I won't know if I'm losing on a weekly basis, and I won't know how much I lost. I'm torn on this. One the one hand, if I know where I'm starting and where I'm going, it might be easier to stay focused and encouraged. On the other hand, without weighing myself, I know that this is going to be a serious, serious under takiing. And when I feel overwhelmed by something, I basically figure "What's the point of even trying?" and I shut down. Besides, I'll be able to tell when/if I'm losing weight.

I'm going to add working out to the process soon, but I want to get over my sugar cravings first, which will take a few weeks. I really hope I don't get bored with this whole thing and give up on it. I've already got plans for the breads I'm going to make later, and even crackers.
